Stone Age settlement and exchange systems in the mountains
Within
the framework of the project "Settlement patterns, contacts and
networks. A diachronic investigation of the Stone Age use of the Alpine
region using the example of the Allgäu (Pre-Alpine region and Alps)"
quantitative investigations of the Mesolithic and Neolithic stone tool
inventories will be carried out and supplemented by scientific analyses
of the origin of the raw materials used.
Furthermore, a
reconstruction of the settlement patterns by means of the almost
exclusively existing stone artifacts will be attempted. Finally, on this
basis, a methodological framework for the operationalization and
verification of the model ideas on the exchange of raw materials in
mobile and sedentary prehistoric societies in the transalpine area will
be established.
