Third Party Funds Group - Sub project
Acronym: THEFBO
Start date : 01.09.2018
End date : 31.08.2021
In this collaborative project, the FAU
is investigating the tools for textile crafts and special-purpose
textiles that were used in every day tasks of neolithic farming
communities, here in the context of pile-dwelling cultures.
Ropes and cords belong to the most important textiles in everyday life. A catalogue of their possible uses, such as in load shifting, house construction, or as a binder (for tool shafts e.g.) is prepared. Connected to fishing techniques, the fish bones in Hornstaad Hörnle IA will be included; as well as the recording of the net sinks. The project is attempting to find out the specialized fishing techniques and their transmission and propagation. The experience gained from the Experimental Archaeology will highlight the importance of specified functional textiles in these farming comunities.
