Scientific Abstract
The labour market is changing at a fast pace. Digitalization and globalization are disrupting “traditional” career patterns of young scientists. However, universities still have a limited focus on preparing researchers for different career paths. According to the EUA survey, only 29% of PhDs state that higher education prepares “transformers of tomorrow” and fails to equip them with competences to introduce innovative solutions to society and meet industry expectations. Our proposal jumps in on this lancet. Our 3-month competence development programme combines hands-on online course with mentoring from experts of academia and industry. It is aimed at PhD candidates, young postdocs and early career researchers to build competences of future transformers, translate own research into key values for society and boost their employability for successfully switching to industry. For the industry, SCI-FI creates an easy access to talents and provides outstanding specialists.
