Short description

The purpose of this research sojourn is to perform collaborative research between the Institute of Radiology at the University Hospital Erlangen (UKER) and the Department of Computer Engineering at the Wroclaw University of Technology (PWR). Our objective is to advance the application of deep learning in the detection of breast cancer using X-ray mammography and breast MRI data and publish the results of this work in a peer-reviewed journal. Such joint publication will not only enhance academic discourse in this field but will also lay a strong foundation for future long-term collaborations between the two institutions.

Scientific Abstract

The purpose of this research sojourn is to perform collaborative research between the Institute of Radiology at the University Hospital Erlangen (UKER) and the Department of Computer Engineering at the Wroclaw University of Technology (PWR). Our objective is to advance the application of deep learning in the detection of breast cancer using X-ray mammography and breast MRI data and publish the results of this work in a peer-reviewed journal. Such joint publication will not only enhance academic discourse in this field but will also lay a strong foundation for future long-term collaborations between the two institutions.

Moreover, we plan to leverage our findings and collaborations to apply for joint project proposals with the German Research Foundation (DFG), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the National Science Centre, Poland (NCN), and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in the upcoming years. This research sojourn thus presents a critical step towards establishing a dlong-term academic relationship that would continue to contribute significantly to the field of breast cancer diagnostics.
