Abstract

In this chapter an overview of the main properties that could be tailored in composites for tissue engineering scaffolds applications are reported. The main approaches have been reviewed and developed for the fabrication of composites to introduce gradients and enhance bioactivity, mechanical properties, and interface tissue response in scaffolds. Moreover, an overview of the commonly used scaffold fabrication techniques used for composites and some selected applications of composite scaffolds are also presented.
