Abstract

Preventive colonoscopy is lot less performed in Germany than needed. Various reasons apply. New techniques improve visualisation of colorectal lesions. This is especially important since flat serrated lesions can be hard to detect and delinate. Unfortunately the terminology of serrated lesions is confusing. Therefore it is important to know more about the terms used. The historical development of the terms may help to fuel the potential of the possibilities of histopathology for risk stratification.
