Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) significantly influences how we live, think, and work. Despite its pervasive presence, many are unaware of AI’s extensive use in daily life. Myths surrounding AI-ranging from its portrayal as a savior or destroyer in science fiction to its perceived objectivity in decision-making-fuel misconceptions about its role in driving efficiency and participation. This chapter explores these myths through a critical and intersectional feminist lens, aiming to challenge underlying privileges and power structures that disadvantage marginalized and underrepresented groups. We analyze how societal power dynamics shape these narratives and examine who benefits from them. Moreover, we question whether AI can be harnessed to create a more equitable world, referencing key studies and expert perspectives on AI governance and feminist AI ethics, while including marginalized perspectives. Our goal is to envision a feminist utopia for AI development and deployment in society and organizations, outlining the necessary steps across politics, society, science, and industry to achieve this vision of fairness through AI.
