Abstract

The fixed-bed separation of short-chain alkane/alkene mixtures over Cu3(BTC)2 was simulated by means of an advective adsorber model with source term. For the prediction of the multicomponent adsorption isotherms the competitive Langmuir isotherm equation and the ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) of Myers and Prausnitz were implemented. Using these methods, adsorber concentration profiles and breakthrough curves were calculated and compared to the experimentally obtained data in light of the applicability and suitability of both methods.
