The chair uses a cold-chamber die casting machine Frech DAK 450-54 (4500 kN mold clamping force) with impeller and a dosing robot. This plant is used to deal with casting technology challenges like encasing of sensitive components or producing cellular structures. Numerical methods (Flow-3D cast) are also used.
The alloy development focuses on Aluminium casting alloys, whereby modifications and developments are always carried out in the context of process engineering. Thermodynamical computer simulations (CALPHAD) support the experimental procedure.
